Michael Thomas “Tom” Wider, age 70, passed away peacefully at his home on April 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Tom was born on April 28, 1955, in Plum City, Wisconsin. He was raised by Earl and Frieda Wider, who instilled in him the values of hard work, family, and quiet resilience that defined his life. On August 26, 1977, Tom married the love of his life, Jane Pulk. Together, they built a life rooted in devotion and raised two children.
Tom found great joy in the outdoors. Whether hunting, fishing, camping, or snowmobiling, he felt most at home surrounded by nature. Some of his most cherished moments were simple ones—taking leisurely drives through the countryside with his family, oldies music playing, and conversation flowing. He dedicated many years of his career to driving semi, a profession he took pride in and through which he formed lasting connections.
He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Jane; his daughter, Angie (Tony) Nelson; his son, Jacob (Tammy); and his treasured grandchildren, Allyson (Brandon Wendt), Adam (Meadow Berg), and Daylin. Tom also leaves behind the joyful anticipation of a great-grandchild expected in the coming days. He is further survived by his sisters, Joyce Hawke and Jane Terpstra, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Frieda Wider; his brothers, Dale, Stanley, David, and Roger Sobottka; and his sisters, Ellen Kirchner, Carol Huneke, and Shirley Dodds, along with other beloved relatives and in-laws.
Per his wishes, there will be no services at this time.
Tom will be remembered for his steady presence, his love for his family, and the quiet way he made life meaningful for those around him.
