Myron “Mike” Dean Nielsen, age 66 of Wilson, died on November 4, 2018 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Mike was born on July 23, 1952 to Ervin and Rochelle (Johnson) Nielsen in St. Paul, Minnesota. He graduated from St. Croix Central High School with the Class of 1970. He was united in marriage to Mary Martini and they were blessed with two children, Kyle and Halie. Even though this marriage would later be dissolved, Mike would come to find the love of his life, Nanette Bourn. On February 15, 1997, Mike and Nanette were united in marriage and have spent 22 wonderful years together. He worked for Donaldson in Baldwin for 17 years as a spray-paint specialist.
Mike was a hard working and intelligent man who taught his children everything he could. He spent many hours tending to his large garden and creating his very own homemade salsa to share. Mike reveled in his John Deere riding mower; taking it the legion to haul cans. He was an honorable member of the Lyons Club and was a part of the Woodville Fire Department for many years. Mike was a proud Republican and held America in his heart. He had a list of when to raise the American Flag, and he would do so with joy and respect for the country he loved. Mike enjoyed American Western television as well, tuning in religiously to John Wayne classics, Rifleman, and Gunsmoke. He appreciated the outdoors and loved to take his family camping. He savored the stories around the campfire, the hunting trips to Wyoming, and the time with his family all while relaxing with an ice cold Old Style beer in his hand. His best friend was his wonderful dog, Shadow, whom he could never replace. There was nothing more important to Mike than family. He supported and provided all he could for them and wanted them to succeed in their own way. Mike will be dearly missed by those who love him but will live on in their hearts and memories.
Mike will remain in the hearts of his wife of 22 years, Nanette; children, Kyle (Heather) and Haylie; step-children, Lynnette Wood, Nova Wood, Scott (Jessica) Johnston; grandchildren, Chloe and Lucie Nielsen and James Myron Nielsen; step grandchildren, Amber Garets, Jesse (Tricia) Quinn, Kloe and Kyra Dahl, Stephanie and Brittany Marko, Alexia, Dennis, and Katie Johnston; step great grandchildren, Theo, Ellie, Claira Diane; siblings, Donna (Bob) Hueftle, Allen (Diane) Nielsen, Steve (Wanda) Nielsen, Linda (Fred) Jourdeans,Karen (Paul) Danniger, Cindy (Dale) Gardner, and Denise Juneski.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Rochelle.
