Myrtle Bailey

Myrtle I. Bailey, age 98, of Hudson, WI, passed away on October 11, 2016 at the Christian Community Home in Hudson.

She was born on September 18, 1918 in Colfax, WI to John and Mabel (Lavine) Carey. She grew up and attended school in Colfax and, shortly after, met her future husband, Alvin Bailey. On November 28, 1940, they were united in marriage on their family farm in Boyceville, WI.

Myrtle loved playing cards, and especially was fond of the game 500. She enjoyed doing puzzles, gardening, playing bingo, and was an avid reader of romance novels. She and Alvin enjoyed going polka dancing in their earlier years, as well as traveling out west in their camper truck. Being a farmer’s wife, she put in a lot of hard work helping Alvin with the farm. Along with being a housewife and farmwife, she worked at Fabritech Company in Amery for many years, working on their computer boards.

She will be dearly missed by her children: Barb (Sheldon) Nelson, Elda Meyer, and Roger Bailey; grandchildren: Ryan (Janice) Nelson, Crystal (Jeff Olson) Nelson, and Carey Meyer; great-grandchildren: Nicholas Nelson, Hannah Nelson, Ryannah Nelson, and Isaiah Saeed; along with many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; daughter-in-law, Tricia Bailey; and sister, Gladys Whitney.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2016 at First Baptist Church, 309 Vine St., Hudson with a visitation held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment at Forest Hill Cemetery in Knapp, WI.
