Naomi Wahlquist

Naomi Mae (Holzer) Wahlquist, age 91, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, July 3, 2013. Born January 6, 1922 to Hazel Elizabeth (Bishop) and William Russell Holzer in Warren Township WI. She graduated from Hammond High School and then from Stout in Menomonie with a teaching degree in Home Economics. She was a teacher at New Richmond, WI High School for several years. She also taught at the Baldwin High School and then served as a substitute teacher for many years after teaching. Naomi also possessed a great love for animals. She was united in marriage to Charles Russell Wahlquist on August 21, 1948. Naomi found salvation while attending a special evening service at the Methodist church in Hammond, WI.

Naomi is survived by her six children, Jeffrey & Erica (Thompson) Wahlquist of Baldwin, Pamela (Wahlquist) & Jeffrey Ryberg of Hudson, James Wahlquist of Baldwin, Charles & Bonnie (Stone) Wahlquist of Baldwin, Robert & Amy (Sandstrom) Wahlquist of Baldwin, and Penny (Wahlquist) & Timothy Engel of Baldwin; thirteen grandchildren, Caroline Wahlquist, Alaina Ryberg, Khiel Ryberg, Caleb Ryberg, Trevor & Jaclyn (Wakeen) Wahlquist, Nicole (Wahlquist) & Matt VandeBerg, Kelsey Wahlquist, Katelyn Wahlquist, Victoria Wahlquist, Elizabeth Wahlquist, James Engel, Abigail Engel, and Sarah Engel; five great-grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Wahlquist; her parents, Hazel and Russell Holzer; brother Irving & sister-in-law Helen Holzer; and sister Marion (Holzer) & brother-in-law Louis Olson.

Services for Naomi Wahlquist will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, July 9th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin, WI. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services, as well as from 4:00-8:00pm on Monday, July 8th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton Street in Baldwin, WI. Burial will take place at the Baldwin Cemetery. Services are in the care of the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin, WI. 715-684-3434
