Nona J. Stockwell

Nona Jean Stockwell, age 85 of Ellsworth and formerly of Maiden Rock, died on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at her home. Nona was born April 26, 1935 in Eau Galle WI to parents Maynard and Vera (DeLong) Bowen. Nona graduated from River Falls High School with the Class of 1953. On June 20, 1959, she was united in marriage to Leon Stockwell. Their union in marriage was blessed with two children, and over 51 years of love and devotion before Leon’s passing in 2010.

Nona cared for her family as a wife, mom, and homemaker. She was an avid reader, who also did daily journaling. She loved to crochet, knit, and embroider. Nona had a love for music, and would play piano and accordion for the right audience. She had a soft spot in her heart for her beloved dogs and cats through the years, and enjoyed feeding the birds. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by her loved ones.

Nona is survived by her son, Scott (Jackie) Stockwell of Ellsworth; her daughter, Sandra (Jack) Broskovetz of Green Bay; grandkids, Sabrina (Adam) Corbin of Mankato MN, and Joshua Stockwell of Ellsworth; great-grandkids, Ellee, Addeson, and Lachlan Corbin; sister-in-law, Beverly Bowen of Prescott; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon; her parents; and her siblings, Russell Bowen, Verla Stockwell, Lila Stockwell, Luella Hautzinger, and Jack Bowen.

A visitation for family and friends will begin at 11:00am on Saturday, October 10, 2020, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 noon at the Bible Center Church, W3733 330th Ave, Maiden Rock, WI 54750 with Pastor Don Shilts officiating. Use of masks will be encouraged, and social distancing will be practiced. Nona’s final place of rest will be at the Ono United Methodist Cemetery.
