Norman Ernest ”Norm”” Rehder, age 78, of North Hudson, passed away December 31, 2016 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.

Norm was born in Stillwater, MN on March 10, 1938 to parents, Carl and Martha (Mau) Rehder. He grew up Houlton and graduated from Hudson High School in 1956. Norm worked on his uncle’s farm, and after graduating he also went to work at Whirlpool until 1960 when he was involved in a severe auto accident. After lots of rehab for his injuries, Norm attend Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis, MN and learned to repair televisions and stereos. He worked as a TV Tech until having to go on disability. Norm was united in marriage to Shirley Betterley on July 1, 1967 at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Hudson. The couple were blessed with two daughters, Debbie and Gina. He loved spending time with his family, and adored his grandsons who were his pride and joy.

Norm was very active over the years with the Hudson Rod, Gun & Archery Club, where he was a lifetime member, former treasurer, and gun safety instructor. He enjoyed hunting since the age of 12, was fond of camping, and loved canoeing on the Namekagon. Norm discovered his physical disability gave him the opportunity and time to serve others. He served with the Wisconsin Conservation Congress, the County Alliance, and was Treasurer with the Hudson Senior Board. Norm was a tax preparer for Seniors with AARP, he coached Houlton Girls Softball, and also worked as a car jockey for local car dealers. He loved to travel on country roads and always knew where he was or what shortcuts he could take. In 2010, Norm and Shirley were the Grand Marshals of the North Hudson Pepper Fest.

Norm will remain in the heart of his wife of 49 years, Shirley; daughter, Gina Rehder; son-in-law, Jeff Russell; grandsons, Dustin and Shane Russell; sister-in-law, Phyllis Petersen; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Russell; his parents, Carl and Martha Rehder; siblings, Bernie Rehder and Arlene Peters; and brother-in-law, Terry Petersen.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Bethel Lutheran Church – Downtown Campus, 920 Third St., Hudson. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. All are encouraged to support the Packers for Stormin Norman by wearing green and gold. In lieu of flowers, memorial are preferred.
