Pearl Sylvia Tayson

Pearl Sylvia Tayson, age 91, of Prescott, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026.

Sylvia was born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, and attended Minnehaha Academy. Following high school, she began a nursing career at Glenwood Hills Hospital, where she met and married the love of her life, Chuck.

Together, Sylvia and Chuck raised four children, Ted, Anita, Chris, and Julia.

After several years in nursing, Sylvia discovered a passion for flowers and floral design. She pursued that passion professionally, and together she and Chuck fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning a floral shop. They worked side by side until Chuck's passing in 1980 . Sylvia continued sharing her creativity and love of flowers through her work at Rose Floral.

After retirement, Sylvia moved to Prescott to be close to her grandchildren, Heidi, Charlie, and Brian. Family was Sylvia’s greatest joy. Her love extended warmly to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren she cherished from the Fossum Clan.

She worked at Freedom Park, where she became known for greeting everyone with a warm smile and kind spirit. Though she officially retired a second time, Sylvia's energetic nature would not allow her to stay idle for long. She joined the crew at her son's family business, Teriyaki Madness, and continued working until this past August.

Sylvia will be remembered for her hardworking spirit, welcoming smile, deep love of family, and the joy she brought to everyone she met. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hugo and Margaret Koenig, and beloved husband, Charles L. Tayson.

She is survived by her children: Ted (Emma), Anita (Mike), Chris (Bernie), and Julia (John); and grandchildren: Heidi, Charlie and Brian.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at Homestead Church (formerly First Presbyterian Church): 602 Vermillion St, Hastings, MN 55033. A visitation will begin at 1:00pm until the start of the service. A reception will be in the church fellowship hall after the service.
