Peggy Anne Zwolenski

October 2, 1939 — June 1, 2025

Hammond

Peggy Ann Zwolenski, age 85, of Hammond, Wisconsin and formerly of Ellsworth, Wisconsin, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the Hammond Health Care Center.

Peggy was born on October 2, 1939, in River Falls, Wisconsin, the daughter of Leonard and Dorothy (Larrabee) Dusek. She was raised in Troy Township, attending Glover Station Elementary before graduating from River Falls High School with the Class of 1957. She married Jack Zwolenski on October 11, 1958. They were united in marriage at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church. Their union was blessed with four children: Mark, Sherri, Judy, and Jacque.

Although Peggy was a devoted mother raising her children, she also worked outside the home. She was employed for twenty-three years by the United States Postal Service, starting in mail sorting and later serving as a clerk. What was clear to all who knew her was that Peggy loved being surrounded by others—especially those who held a special place in her heart.

She enjoyed playing cribbage or euchre with her friends and later joined a bridge club. Since Jack loved to golf, Peggy learned the game herself and enjoyed many outings at the Ellsworth Golf Course. She also found peace in reading a good book and quilting thoughtful keepsakes for her children and grandchildren. Peggy and Jack enjoyed bowling together, and it wasn’t uncommon for them to take a trip to the casino for a little fun and a good meal.

Her faith was quiet but steadfast—expressed more in her actions than in words.

Peggy will be lovingly remembered by her children: Mark (Karen) Zwolenski, Judy (Peter) Lefeber, Jacqueline (Peter) Garin; son-in-law Philip Richie; grandchildren: Joshua (Amy) Richie, Megan Zwolenski, Lauren Zwolenski, Tiffany Richie, Madison (Jake) Skinner, Mason Garin (Anna-fiance), Michelle Lefeber, Rachel Garin, Rebekah Garin, and Michael (Cassie) Lefeber; great-grandchildren: Colby, Cooper, Greyson, Asher, and Colton; her brother Dennis (Beth) Dusek and his family; along with many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Zwolenski; and beloved daughter, Sherri.

Mass of Christian Burial for Peggy Zwolenski will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 11, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Ellsworth. Visitation will take place one hour prior to Mass at the church. A time of fellowship and food will follow the Mass.
