Philip J Feyereisen, age 87, of Hudson, WI, died on September 23, 2020 at Red Cedar Canyon in Hudson.
Phil was born on October 11, 1932 to William and Hazel (Shriver) Feyereisen in Hudson, WI. He was the 3rd of 5 boys, and grew up on the farm purchased by his parents in River Falls, and graduated from River Falls High School. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving overseas in Germany. After being honorably discharged from the service, he returned to the family farm to help his father who had leukemia. When his father passed, he purchased the farm from his mother.
He met his wife, Patricia Rother, while dancing at the Prom Ballroom in St Paul, MN. In June, 1957, she became his permanent dance partner for life, as his wife. Together, they won many trophies for their waltz and modern dances. They were blessed with 4 children, Julie, Laura, Wendy, and Dale.
Phil was a lifelong farmer for over 60 years. He was passionate about the trade, and even when not doing farm chores, he was likely at a farm auction looking at new equipment or helping a fellow neighbor fixing their own farm equipment.
His inquisitive mind led him to be named “Mr. Fix It” in the service, and was always helping somebody fix a broken part or machine. This talent led him to be particularly skilled in reinvention and re-engineering, thinking of new and practical ways to make a part or machine to run easier. He was devoted to his Catholic faith and was a Knights of Columbus River Falls Member for over 60 years. He also enjoyed playing his accordion and harmonica. He went deer hunting with his cousins, and loved racing old “jalopies” on the frozen St. Croix River. He could make any old car run. He cherished time spent with his relatives, neighbors and friends, playing endless hours of poker, 500, euchre, and royal rummy. Phil was a caring, helpful, and gentle man that will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia, children: Julie (Robert) Jones, Laura Laberee, Wendy (Dan) Geraty, and Dale Feyereisen. Grandchildren are Robert W Jones, Nathan Geraty, Emily Geraty, Thomas Geraty, and Brooke Feyereisen. Surviving brothers: Arthur (Marilyn) Feyereisen, and Charles (Marilyn) Feyereisen, and sister in law Cathy Feyereisen. There are many nieces and nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, and brothers Raymond Feyereisen, and Daryl Feyereisen.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm, on Friday, Oct 9th, 2020, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson, with visitation held one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Interment is at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Hudson, WI.
