Phyllis Kay Zilz, a beloved mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on February 7, 1941, in Hudson, Wisconsin, she was a lifelong resident of her cherished hometown.
Known as Kay by those closest to her, she had exceptional knitting skills-creating beautiful sweaters and personalized Christmas stockings that adorned countless homes and warmed the hearts of family and friends.
Kay had a deep passion for traveling, exploring many countries throughout her life. She found joy in sailing on the St. Croix River, spending her time immersed in puzzles, and reading books. She found pleasure in both the challenges they presented and the worlds they opened.
Kay's spirit will forever live on through her family and friends, especially her daughter, Leslee Thompson; son-in-law, Brian Thompson; special friend, David Evenson; grandsons, Ryan & Sam Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug Zilz; daughter, Wende Wiskerchen; parents Don & Margaret Cameron, brother, Gary Cameron; sisters, Susie & Judi Cameron.
A private gathering will be held by those closest to Kay, where she will be returned the earth in all her favorite spots.
