Rachel Margaret Krier, 85, of Hudson, died unexpectedly Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, Colorado. She was born July 21, 1927, in New Richmond, Wisconsin; the daughter of Edward and Hazel (Speers) Cody. She was raised in New Richmond and graduated from New Richmond High School. On July 1, 1946, she was united in marriage to Lawrence “Larry” Krier at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in River Falls. This union would be blessed with six children. Rachel and Larry raised their children in a Christian home full of love. Her faith was founded on her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Serving her family as a wife, mother and homemaker gave Rachel the utmost pleasure and one of her greatest joys was the addition of a new baby to the family. Rachel was a caregiver and felt it her calling to help others. She and Larry traveled around the United States in their motorhome to help family and friends in need.

Rachel will forever remain in the hearts of her husband, Lawrence, of sixty-six years; children, Sandra (Claude) O’Donnell of Belton, Texas; Joe (Sally) Krier of Menomonie; Mary (Scott) Pearson of Hudson; Jerry (Kathy) Krier of North Branch, Minnesota; James (Marcy) Krier of Hudson; Theresa (Timothy) Thomason of Paso Robles, California; sixteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, sister-in-law Mary Cody of Hammond, and brother-in-law Jerry Voight of Tucson, Arizona. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings Edward (Leonette) Cody, John (Phyllis) Cody, Mary (Larry) Hawkins, Tom Cody, Collette (Leo) Krear, Barb Voight, Don Cody, Warren Cody, and Jerry Cody. Also, preceded in death by two grandchildren, Solomon Michael Thomason and Colleen Ann Rocha.

A celebration of Rachel’s life will be held on Saturday, February 9, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM with a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson. Interment will be in the Willow River Cemetery in Hudson. Memorials to the family will be donated to Rachel’s favorite charities.
