Richard C.”Dick” Bump

Richard C. ”Dick”” Bump, age 75 of Oak Park Heights and formerly of Lakeland MN, died on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Oak Park Heights Senior Living. Dick was born April 2, 1942 in Saint Paul MN to parents Donavon F. and Norma F. (Leyde) Bump. Dick attended parochial school in Saint Paul, graduating from St. Agnes High School. He then furthered his education at St. Paul Tech where he was trained as a machinist. Dick was united in marriage to Jeanne T. Prince on September 24, 1966. Their union was blessed with three children, and over 43 years of love and devotion before Jeanne’s passing in 2010.

Dick worked as a machinist over the years for a few different employers, but mostly with the State of Minnesota before he retired. Outside of work, Dick enjoyed time spent fishing, golfing, and camping. Raising his family, Dick was involved with coaching his sons hockey teams. Dick also served as a volunteer firefighter with the Lower St. Croix Valley Fire Department in years past. In later years, it was his grandchildren that brought him much joy. He will be missed by his family, and all who knew and loved him.

Dick is survived by his children, Terry (John) Tatem, John (Lisa) Bump, and Donavon (Traci) Bump; grandchildren, Ryan, Aaron, Alyssa, and Hannah; his siblings, DeDe (Al) Edwins, and Janice (Dale) Bender; as well as his nieces, nephews, other relatives, and good friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Jeanne; and his parents.

A Memorial Service for Richard C. ””Dick”” Bump will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, June 17th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 11th Street S in Hudson WI. Visitation will begin at 11:00am. Dick will be laid to rest at the Evergeen Cemetery in Afton. Memorials may be directed to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
