Richard C. Gutting

Richard Christian Gutting, age 72 of Ellsworth, passed away December 29, 2019 at the Atrium Senior Living in Ellsworth. Richard was born May 24, 1947 in Red Wing, MN to William and Doris (Hollinger) Gutting. He graduated from Ellsworth High School, with the Class of 1965. After high school, he obtained an Associates degree in Business from Chippewa Valley Technical College.

Richard was united in marriage to Beulah Maureen Palmquist on August 11, 1979 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Beldenville, WI. Their marriage was blessed with two children and 40 years of love and devotion. He worked as a refrigeration mechanic with Nor-Lake Inc. in Hudson for 38 years, retiring in 2012.

Richard enjoyed fishing, camping, and hiking with his family. He also enjoyed vegetable gardening, cooking and reading the newspaper. Richard was an avid Wisconsin sports enthusiast, who delighted in cheering on the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers. He was a clever story teller with a great sense of humor, who will be dearly missed.

Richard will remain in the hearts of his loving wife, Beulah; son, August Gutting of River Falls, WI; daughter, Rachel (Shaun) Kats of St. Paul, MN; siblings: Gerald (Betty) Gutting, Jim (Cheri) Gutting, Doris Frederick, Tom Gutting, Carol (Walter) Betzel, and Bernadette (Frank) Wasdovitch; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Doris Gutting; sisters, Mary Anne McDermott and Sharon McHenry; and brother, Pete Gutting.

A Memorial Service will take place 11:00 AM Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, N6450 530th St., Beldenville, with Pastor Lucas Ladnier officiating. A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to donor’s choice.
