Richard “Dick” Metzger, age 89, of Hudson, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025. Dick grew up in Illinois. He graduated from Normal Community High School, in Normal, IL, excelling in basketball. He loved the game and continued to play at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL, where he earned a business degree. After college, he joined the United States Marine Corps, serving his country with honor and dedication.
After his service, Dick entered the printing industry. He owned Artistic Screening in the Twin Cities, and later, International Minute Press in Arizona. He volunteered as a little league basketball and soccer coach in Hudson, was a volunteer at the Hudson Hospital, and served on the appeals board for many years. In Arizona, he was an avid golfer, an active member of the Paradise Valley Chamber of Commerce, and Rotary Club, where he worked to improve the local community and foster many golf friendships. Even though he considered himself a mediocre golfer, he achieved the elusive hole-in-one.
Dick loved fishing, golfing, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers. Above all, he cherished the moments spent with his wife of 63 years, Sharon, his children, and his grandchildren; creating memories that are forever etched in their hearts.
He is survived by his best friend, Sharon (Freehill); children Julie (Todd) Bertocchi of Arizona, Teri (Vince) Reiter of Hudson, Cindy Metzger of Hudson, and Guy Metzger of Hudson; grandchildren Matt Bertocchi, Katie Bertocchi, Ryan (Madi) Reiter, and Travis Reiter; great granddaughter Lily, his brothers- and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ethan and Betty (Comley) Metzger.
