Richard Grekoff

d. December 14, 2020

Richard James “Dick” Grekoff, age 74 of Hudson died Monday, December 14, 2020 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul from complications of a heart attack. Dick was born on July 7, 1946 in Mason City, Iowa; the son of Matty and Norma Grekoff. He was raised in Nora Springs, Iowa where he graduated from high school. Following this, he furthered his education from Mason City Junior College before received his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from the University of Iowa in 1968. In 1965, he married his best friend and soul mate Mary Ann Brandau at the Little Brown Church in The Vale in Nashua, Iowa. They celebrated fifty-five years together raising their three children. They lived in White Bear Lake and Roseville for a short time before making their home in Hudson in 1976. For a brief stint, Dick worked in mortgage banking but soon found that wasn’t his passion. He went into business for himself and founded Cameron Development Company. Dick’s had a desire and determination to build himself and his family a future. Dick focused on single-family homes, duplexes, or twin home buildings. He always wanted to better himself and his business. Dick also entered the ready mix concrete business as he helped start Trico Redi Mix. Dick’s business ventures included West Lake Builders and most recently with his son; All Seasons Rental in Hudson. For many customers, they became not only valued loyal customers, but became an extended member of his family. His impact on others in making you feel special was uniquely felt by those around him. Dick’s bond with his family has created one of the most special family businesses; which includes his wife, children, and his grandchildren as all of them at one point worked with Grandpa!

For anyone that knew Dick, they appreciated his steadfast love for his family. Everything centered around his family! The apple of his eye was his eight grandsons who could do no wrong, at least for grandpa. Whether t-ball, soccer, football, lacrosse, and hockey, he never missed their games. He was so proud of their accomplishments in school, sports, or in becoming men! Quite possibly his favorite place to relax was the family cabin on Lake Wapogasset. So many memories were created around pontoon rides, bon fires, or sipping bourbon. He also enjoyed the sunsets on the St. Croix River when everyone was present, enjoying the weather, food, drinks, and friends. He just liked to watch others having a great time.

Dick will remain in the hearts of his wife Mary; children Randy (Nan) Grekoff, Lisa (Jim) Dardine, Laura (Bob) Quade; grandchildren Brantley (Jamie), Adam (Gina), Josh, Parker, Isaac, Jake (Olivia), Hunter, Trevor; and soon to be great granddaughter Lennon. He is further survived by his sister-in-law Loretta. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Dallas.

Dick’s life will be celebrated Sunday, December 20thfrom 4pm to 7pm at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson. A private service paying tribute to his faith will be held earlier.
