Richard Meldon Hogfoss

Richard Meldon Hogfoss, age 73, of Bay City, Wisconsin, passed away at his residence on May 15, 2026. He was born on October 20, 1952, in Welcome, Minnesota, the son of Arthur and Bonita (Ducheneaux) Hogfoss.

When Rick was young, his mother became ill, and in hopes of seeking better care for her, the family moved to Farmington, Minnesota. Rick attended Farmington High School and graduated with the Class of 1970.

On August 17, 1974, Rick was united in marriage to Suzanne Yetzer. Together they shared over 30 years of marriage and were blessed with four children: Jason, Steven, Bonita, and Richard. Though life later led them down separate paths, they remained married and continued to share the bond of family and many years of memories together. In later years, Rick shared a loving companionship with Kathy Frye, who became an important part of his life.

Rick enjoyed camping and took great pride in his Native American heritage of the Lakota Tribe. He loved collecting antiques, spending weekends garage saleing, and sharing a beer (Keystone Light) now and then with friends and family. Music was always close to his heart. He enjoyed playing guitar, collecting guitars, and listening to the classics from his vast record collection during quiet moments at home.

Rick spent more than 30 years working as a local truck driver for Doc’s Trucking, a career he truly enjoyed. The open road suited his spirit well, offering both freedom and adventure throughout the years.

Richard is survived by his children, Jason (Katie) Hogfoss, Steven Hogfoss, Bonita (Evan) Hogfoss, and Richard Hogfoss; his grandchildren, Mason Scott-Hogfoss, Kayla (Brennan) Johnson, Kyesha Smith, and Harper Hogfoss; his great-granddaughter, Lauretta Johnson; his siblings, Pam (Chris) Hogfoss and Barry (Kathy) Hogfoss; his wife, Suzanne Hogfoss; and his longtime companion, Kathy Frye.

A Celebration of Life for Rick will be at 1:00pm on June 19, 2026, at the Farmington VFW: 421 3rd St, Farmington, MN 55024.
