Richard “Dick” Jonas, age 88 of Cylon Township, formerly of Hudson, died on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the Baldwin Area Medical Center. Dick was born on December 13, 1924 in Hudson, Wisconsin; the son of Reinhart and Anna (Killian) Jonas. He was raised in Hudson where he attended school. As a young man, he enlisted in the armed forces where he proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. On May 29, 1945, he was united in marriage to Marion Dahlin to which children Dianna, David, Richard H., and Lisa were born. She would precede him in death in 1991.

Dick worked as the chief engineer for the Holiday Inn of St. Paul. Later, in 2005, he would be married to the former Evelyn Roddy. She too would precede him in death in 2008.

Dick loved the outdoors; camping and fishing at Copper Falls State Park were his favorite. He also enjoyed stock car racing and bowling. Being a veteran of the Navy, he was a proud member of the New Richmond VFW.

Dick is survived by his daughters Dianna (Dan) Lunn of Woodville, and Lisa (Kenneth) Barrows of Waupaca; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister Harriet (John) Salmon of Hudson; as well as his nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wives; infant son David Allen; and son Richard Harley.

Private interment with full military honors will be at the Northern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Spooner. Cremation services coordinated by the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, and Countryside Crematory of Baldwin, WI.
