Ricky Powell

Ricky L. Powell, age 61 of Baldwin, passed away on April 25, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis. Ricky was born October 24, 1952 in Zanesville, Ohio; the son of Chester and Doris Powell. Ricky proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage on June 9, 1979 to Vicki Hanke in Eau Claire, WI. Their marriage was blessed with a daughter, Ashley; and son, Nicholas. Ricky was a successful businessman being self-employed throughout his life.

Ricky was a true outdoorsman, who enjoyed the peacefulness of camping and fishing. He was always happy and smiling and took great joy in joking with others. He cherished his family and enjoyed spending time with them; especially having a close bond with his grandchildren who called him “Papa.”

Ricky will remain in the hearts of his wife, Vicki; daughter, Ashley Powell-Offner of Baldwin; son, Nicholas (Brooke) Powell of Duluth; grandchildren, Annika & Aubrey Offner of Baldwin and Jaden & Sophie Powell of Duluth; 3 brothers; 1 sister; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; and 2 sisters.

A Memorial Service will take 12 NOON Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton St., Baldwin, with Pastor John Soshea officiating. A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A reception will immediately follow the services at the funeral home.
