Robert Gene Drallmeier, passed away on September 6, 2025, after a tragic helicopter accident. He was 66 years old. Robert was born on October 4, 1958, in Rapid City, South Dakota, to parents Louis and Glenda (Church) Drallmeier.
Robert grew up in Superior, Wisconsin, where he graduated from Superior High School in 1977. Shortly after, he enlisted in the Army, attending aviation mechanics school, where he honed his skills working as a crew chief on Huey helicopters. Robert married Nancy Larson on November 8, 1986 and together raised three children.
His service in the military instilled in him a deep appreciation for the sacrifices of veterans, particularly those who served in Vietnam. In 2017, after hosting the traveling veterans wall as Post Commander for the VFW Post 10818. Robert’s passion for aviation was reignited, and he dedicated himself to traveling across the country to support and honor his fellow veterans with “Combat Helicopters” Huey. Robert was also a lifelong member of VFW. Robert was also a Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 139.
Following his military service, Robert pursued a degree in agricultural diesel mechanics, which paved the way for a long and fulfilling career as a mechanic. He had a rare talent for problem-solving and was known for his ingenuity in fixing vintage cars, trucks, tractors and snowmobiles. Robert’s life was enriched by his sharp sense of humor, sarcastic wit, and boundless love for children and animals, especially his Collies. He took pride in building the family cabin and creating model planes, showcasing both his creativity and dedication to family.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Drallmeier; children Erika Harrison, Crystal Rose, and Timothy Drallmeier; siblings Judy Drallmeier, Butch (Irene) Drallmeier, and Bill (Cindy) Drallmeier, as well as many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and in-laws.
He is preceded in death by his infant son Edward and parents Louis and Glenda.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025 at 625 W Hangar Rd, Hangar 11-14, New Richmond, Wi. Visitation will be from 1-3 pm with a service starting at 3 pm.
