Robert “Gus” Willman, Jr.

Robert “Gus” F. Willman Jr., age 88, of Hudson, WI, passed away on July 22, 2015 at his home in Hudson. Gus was born on June 29, 1927 in Eau Claire, WI to Robert F. Sr. and Florence (Woods) Willman. He attended Humbird Elementary School and was a 1945 graduate of Hudson High School. Following his graduation, he began working at Andersen Windows as a Window Glazer, and after over 36 years of dedicated employment, retired in 1985.

On April 9, 1955, he was united in marriage to Merry Elizabeth Bartsch in Mason City, IA. Their marriage would be blessed with four children: Hannah “Sue”, Mike, Mary, and Bill. Gus loved being in the outdoors, whether it be hunting, fishing, and watching the birds and squirrels, and he was a ‘crackerjack’ ice skater in the winter. He was a cat and dog lover, and took great pleasure in sitting in his favorite chair watching TV, cheering on the Green Bay Packers. He also had a talent for reciting poetry, especially the Cremation of Sam McGee by Robert William Service. He also proudly served as a Mason for the St. Croix Lodge #56.

Throughout all of his life, Gus was a content man, working hard for his family, not dwelling on the little things, and finding comfort in simplicity. He was always there for those that he loved – being a loyal and generous husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friends, all while putting a smile on your face.

He is survived by his wife, Merry, of Hudson, WI; children: Hannah “Sue”””” (Kevin) Leider of Minneapolis
