Robert V. Miller

Robert Vaughn Miller, age 68 of Hudson, WI, formerly of River Falls, WI, passed away January 11, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester Mayo.

Robert was born July 15, 1946 in Shelbina, MO; the son of Harold L. and Alta Voncille (Pulse) Miller. He attended school in Knox County and in 1963 toured Europe as an FFA Ambassador. He graduated in 1964 from Knox County High School, where he met his wife, Karen Jo Richardson. They were united in marriage on May 28, 1966 in Edina, MO.

He graduated from the University of Missouri in 1969 with a B.S. in AG-Journalism. He was a member of the University Singers and had a great friendship with the director, Tom Mills. While earning his degree, he wrote for the Missourian and Missouri Ruralist. After graduating, he moved to Lincoln, IL, where he wrote for the Lincoln Courier. In 1971, he moved the family to Wisconsin and wrote for Farm Industry News at Webb Publishing Co. in St. Paul. He worked briefly for Peterson-Morris Ad Agency before starting his own agency in 1975. It was later known as Miller-Meester Advertising, Inc. and at one time became the largest Ag agency in the nation, winning numerous awards including Telly, Clio, Oliver, and Gold Saber. His career spanned nearly four decades and he employed over 1500 people throughout the years.

Bob enjoyed farming, music, car collecting, and meeting people.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 48 years, Karen; their four children, Eric (Grace) Miller of San Bruno, CA, Amber (Chris) Wildgoose of Boston, MA, Andrea Miller of Hudson, WI and Chad Miller of Austin, TX; four grandchildren: Vincent, Siena and Paolo Miller, (and their mother, Mariana), and Cooper Miller; three siblings: David (Betty) Miller of Columbia, MO, Larry Miller of Fort Collins, CO and Saundra (Don) Hensley of Des Moines, IA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold L. and A. Voncille (Pulse) Miller; and sister-in-law, Karen Miller.

Visitation will be held 12:00 -1:00 PM, with a 1:00 PM Funeral Service Friday, January 16, 2015 at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 14107 S. Hudson Rd., Afton, MN, with Pastor Steve Kramer officiating. Entombment will take place at Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville, Missouri.
