Roger Eldon Ferg passed away on June 26, 2025, in Kearneysville, near his home in Charles Town, West Virginia. Born on March 9, 1944, in Baldwin, Wisconsin, Roger's journey through life was marked by a deep dedication to his family, his work, and his country. When Roger was younger, he worked on some farms in the Roberts area, first on Bill and Bev Gillis’s farm and later on, the Kamm family farm. Even after he left farming, he always loved the farming and dairy industry.
Roger, a proud veteran of the United States Army, demonstrated his unwavering commitment to service before embarking on a fulfilling career as an Aircraft Aviation Technician with Signature Flight Support. Not one to shy away from hard work, he was known among his colleagues as a diligent worker who poured his heart into every task.
Roger had a zest for life that was infectious. A true sports enthusiast, he was a die-hard fan of football, and had several favorite teams. The excitement of a game, the thrill music during a country concert, or a quiet night at the movies were all moments he cherished and shared with those he loved.
As we reflect on Roger's life, we remember a man who was always informed about current events and sports. He also enjoyed yardwork.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Betty Ferg; stepchildren Yovonne Stewart and Aubry Barnes; step-grandchildren Asha & Adia Stewart, Gary, Davonte, Aubry, Destiny & JoJo Barnes; siblings Marvin (Eileen) Ferg, Marlys Frye, Daniel (Juanita) Ferg; Latischa Ferg and family, Michelle (Matthew) Adams and family, Rebecca Frye, and many other nieces and nephews who cherished his presence in their lives
He is preceded in death by his parents Martin and Alda (Zillmer) Ferg; brothers David Ferg and Richard Ferg; infant sister; brother-in-law Robert Frye; and loyal dog Yogi Bear.
Funeral services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Woodville, Wisconsin on Thursday, July 3, 2025. Visitation will be from 11-12 p.m. with a service starting at 12 p.m. memorials are preferred to the family.
