Roger Leon Roseth

Roger Leon Roseth, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on July 17, 1939, at St. John’s Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota, the son of Clarence & Frances (Johnson) Roseth. He grew up and attended school in Wahpeton, North Dakota.

Roger proudly served his country in the North Dakota National Guard, the U.S. Air Force, and the Army Reserve. After his service years, he dedicated thirty years of his life to the Burlington Northern Railroad as a brakeman and conductor. He retired in 2002.

A resident of Fargo, North Dakota, Roger found joy in retirement shopping garage sales, playing cards with family, and golfing. His playful spirit thrived in the company of loved ones, where he would often bring pens and flashlights—his quirky beloved trinkets. Above all, Roger took immense pride in every moment spent with family and friends. A member of the Sons of Norway, as well as the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Roger held a strong sense of community. His contributions and presence in these organizations reflected his unwavering commitment to supporting his fellow veterans and fostering connections among neighbors.

In 1961 he married Gwenythe Johnson in Melby, Minnesota. They made their home in Breckenridge, MN where their children graduated from high school. In 1993 he married Sue (Ramstad) Bean and they lived in Fargo. Roger will be greatly missed by his children Holly (John) Bjorseth, Randy (Penny) Roseth, Timothy (Katherine) Roseth; grandchildren Hannah (Tyler) Lewis, Luke (Emily) Palmer, Emily Roseth, Brenna Roseth, Bennett Roseth; great-grandchildren Lorelei & Levi Lewis; many nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sue; parents Frances & Clarence, sister JoAnne Adkins, brothers Donald, Howard & Gary Roseth.

A spring service will be planned at Lower Wild Rice Red River Cemetery in Hickson, North Dakota with military honors. Arrangements by O’Connell Funeral Home in Hudson, Wisconsin 715-386-3725.
