It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roland Ross Carpenter, who left us on June 11, 2026, at the age of 83, at Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury. Roland was born on October 12, 1942, in Staples, MN, and he spent his life making a positive impact on those around him.
In 1965, Roland met the love of his life, Elizabeth Cramblit. They were married on August 14 in St. Paul, MN, and together they built a wonderful life filled with laughter and love. Roland is survived by his beloved daughters, Kim (Merrick) Wee, Tammy (Jim) Myrick, and son, Gary (Laurie) Kern. He was a cherished grandpa to Krystal (Tony) Torntore, Sam Kern and Molly (Tim) Sovell and a proud great-papa to his four great-granddaughters, Laila, Sydnee, Peyton, and Morgan Torntore. Roland was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Carpenter; parents, Henry and Una Carpenter and siblings Sissy, Mervin, and Garry.
Roland was proud to be a welder and leader, working over 25 years at the American Hoist and 16 years with Waterous. He took great pride in his work and was respected by his colleagues.
He found comfort and companionship in his cat, Abby, who was never far from his side. He took great pride in fixing, building, and figuring things out and finding a solution to just about anything. The love for his family was steady, quiet, and unconditional.
At this time, at his own request, there are no services planned for Roland.
Services are entrusted to O'Connell Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hudson. For more information or to share a memory, please visit www.oconnellfuneralhomes.com or call 715-386-3725.
