Ron Siegersma

Ronald Siegersma, age 86, was called by his Lord Jesus Christ to his heavenly home on December 29, 2018.

He was born in Wyanett Township, Minnesota, on May 6, 1932 to George & Mabel Siegersma. His mother passed away when he was 7 months old. The overwhelming job of caring for 4 boys was too much for his dad, so Ron grew up under the care of his grandparents, aunts & uncles! He learned to work hard & his grandfather always said that he should be a preacher.

Serving his country as an airplane mechanic in the US Air Force during the Korean War, he left behind his girlfriend, Pauline Meyer of Baldwin, Wisconsin. Many love letters later, he returned home from Korea, & married Pauline on December 22, 1953, at the Baldwin Christian Reformed Church. They moved to Nellis Air Force Base where Sue, the first of 5 children, was born. In 1957, the family returned to settle in Baldwin, WI. Four more children were born in Baldwin: Bruce, Sharon, Lisa, & Joel.

Ron worked for over 44 years at Bernard’s Northtown, the Chrysler Dealership in New Richmond. He loved his work & made friends with everyone from the employees to the customers. There were many times he would drive a customer’s car from Baldwin to New Richmond to save the customer time & money. He was a generous man who loved people. He had strong beliefs & sometimes, strong opinions. He liked the Vikings & the Twins! He loved his children and grandchildren & they knew about his stash of peppermints that he liked to share.

If people looked at Ron, they would’ve said he loved God & was a great example of what service looks like. He led the young people’s group & then lay witness missions (encounter God weekends) at various churches in MN & WI. After joining “The Gideons International,” he placed Bibles in hospitals & hotels & shared the good news of Jesus Christ at the St. Croix County Correctional Facility. The number of churches where he spoke about the power of the Word of God & the Bible are too numerous to count. Over the years he gave away many pocket testaments. He was Gideon leader locally & statewide. He served faithfully at his local church & at the Baldwin Christian School. For 45 years Ron & Pauline, along with their children & grandchildren, spent countless hours as the primary lay pastors at the St. Croix County Health Center. He was an inspiration to all he came in contact with.

Ron is survived by his five children: Sue (Glenn)Kennedy of Okinawa, Japan, Bruce Siegersma of Baldwin, WI, Sharon (Richard) Marr of Newnan, GA, Lisa (Marc) Quaglio of Sherwood, Oregon, & Joel Siegersma of Lake Oswego, Oregon; 16 grandchildren & step-grandchildren: Benjamin, Caleb, Josiah, Daniel (Lisa), Merci, Esther & Elizabeth Kennedy, Rick (Alyssa) & Rob (Holly) Spear, Rick Marr, Shannon (Jason) Bartlett, Hannah, Rebekah, Joshua & Samuel Quaglio, Danika Siegersma; great grandchildren: Kylie, Madelyn, Cullin, Benaiah, & Gabriel Kennedy, Skylar Seviola, Quinton, Jackson, & Willow Marr, James & William Bartlett; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Meyer & Petronella Meyer, plus numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives & dear friends. Ron is preceded in death by his wife, Pauline; his brothers & their wives: George Jr. (Wilma), Marvin (Clarize), & Merle; brothers-in-law: Stanley & Loren Meyer; daughter-in-law: Penny Siegersma, & grandson: Nicholas Siegersma.

A Visitation for Ron will be held from 5-8PM Tuesday, January 1st at O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin. A Funeral Service will take place at 11AM Wednesday, January 2nd at Christian Reformed Church of Baldwin. Interment Baldwin Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to The Gideons International, which is an organization that Ron & Pauline held near & dear to their heart.
