Ronald ”Ron”” Hanson, age 65 of Hammond died Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis following complications of heart surgery.
Ron was born on February 13, 1950 in Baldwin; the son of Marvin and Margaret Hanson. He was raised in Hammond where he attended elementary and high school prior to being drafted in the armed forces. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On December 8, 2013, he was united in marriage to longtime friend and soul mate Rebecca ‘Becky’ Glyzinski at their home in Hammond. For the 34 years, he has been a dedicated employee of the Douglas Hanson Company (today Loparex Inc).
Ron was a simple man who appreciated the good things in life; family and friends. He could talk to anyone about anything. A good day for Ron would include mowing the grass, enjoying his favorite beverage, and finishing it off with some barbecuing on the grill. But nothing made him smile more than his family and grandkids.
Ron is survived by his wife Becky Demulling, daughter Randee Hanson of Lakeland; step children Amy (fiancé Mike Casson) Demulling of Baldwin, Tim (Jodi) Demulling of Baldwin; grandchildren Brittany & Kalli; step grandchildren Ella & Gracyne; great grandchildren Hadley and Harley; siblings Bob Hanson of Virginia, Richard (Judy) Hanson of Osceola; and the extended Glyzinski family. Ron is preceded in death by his parents and brother Charlie; parents-in-law Stan & Alice Glyzinski.
A gathering for family and friends for Ron Hanson will be Friday, June 5th from 2pm to 5pm at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin. Interment will immediately follow in the Hammond Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Hammond American Legion Post.
