Ruby Pearl Rott

November 27, 1933 — September 15, 2025

River Falls

Ruby Rott age 91 of Taylors Falls, MN and St. Paul, MN. Passed away peacefully and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 15, 2025. She was currently residing at The Sycamore Senior Living in River Falls, WI.

Ruby was born November 27, 1933 at a rented farm house near Wilmot, SD. At the age of 6, Ruby dedicated her life to Christ and shortly after that she was Baptized. This decision impacted her whole life. Her childhood and teenage years in Corona, SD centered around Bible studies, church activities and prayer meetings at Corona Baptist Church. In 1951, she graduated from Corona High School (The Midgets), Corona, SD. Ruby went on to attend Sioux Falls College, where she met her future husband Dale Dean Rott. Ruby continued her studies and in 1956 she graduated from the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL.

On June 26, 1956 she and Dale were united in marriage at Corona Baptist Church. Ruby and Dale lived in Sioux Falls, SD after getting married. Their first son, Kenneth was born while they were in Sioux Falls. Later they moved to Iowa, where Dale served as a Pastor at Rock Rapids Christian Church, for a short period of time.

Ruby started doing clerical and secretarial work early on in their married life. Ruby worked in Civil Service for the Federal Government from 1956 to 1962 to help “Put Hubby Through school”, while Dale was finishing his religious drama post graduate work. They also lived in Redlands, CA and Milton, MA. Dale accepted a teaching position at Bethel College, which prompted them to move to St. Paul, MN. Their next two children, Keith Milton & Kathryn Joy (because she wasn’t a boy) were added to their family soon after they were settled. In 1968 a family move, to Taylors Falls MN, was prompted by Dale and Ruby wanting their kids to have a small school experience.

In the 1970’s, Ruby worked for the Hazelden Foundation and was so inspired by their program, she began her studies in Chemical Dependency. She received a B.A. Degree in Chemical Dependency and Family Counseling in 1980 from Metro State University. She enjoyed several satisfying careers and was employed by Medtronic from 1981 to 1986; Children’s Hospital from 1988 to 1997; and New Directions, INC doing guidance and support in a group home, until retiring in 2012.

Ruby was a big sports fan. Tennis was her passion. She began playing at age 55 and had to stop competing at age 85. She competed in several Senior Olympic tournaments and was quite successful! Ruby enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, living vicariously through all sporting events. She really enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting and extracurricular events. She looked forward to Alex Call’s baseball games, Mary Jane’s gymnastics and of course, tennis! Ruby was instrumental in the launching of granddaughter, Mary Jane’s club gymnastics which led to MJ’s successful D-1 college career.

Her heart for ministry got her involved with the Children’s Shelter of Cebu in the Philippines. Ruby had a passionate desire for grandchildren and became very involved with Ken and Dianna’s adoption of a sibling group of six from the Children’s Shelter of Cebu in 1997. She even traveled with them to help bring the ‘Cebu Six Pak’ to the United States.

The Lord blessed Ruby with many musical abilities. She used those gifts to praise her Lord and Savior as a pianist’s and vocalist. She was a member of the prestigious Moody Chorale. She was an active member of Calvary Church in Roseville, and their Threshold Ministry, helping prisoners adjusting to life when they get out of prison.

Preceded in death by her husband Dale; parents Leonard & Jeanette DeBoer; sisters Evelyn (DeBoer) Hoekman and Lorraine (DeBoer) Fritzke; sister-in-law Marcene DeBoer.

She will be dearly missed by her children Kenneth (Dianna) Rott, Keith (Bobby) Rott, & Katy (Marv) Call; brothers David DeBoer and Paul (Sherry) DeBoer; grandchildren Herman (Faith) Rott, Maricel (Lukas Brannon) Rott, Marlon (Stacy) Rott, Elmar (MariCris) Rott, Renante (Susan) Rott, Mary Jane (John Carney) Rott, Eleazar Rott, Ezekiel Rott, Ayanna James-LuBeck, Frankie James LuBeck, Bridget (Luke) Curran, Alex (Samantha) Call; great-grandchildren Keira, Kiann Sol (Kiko), Kassidy, Korin (Koko), Landon, Jaydee, April, Madison, Zoey Aiello, Jayden, Adrian, Gavin, Vincent, Kimberly, Elias, Cole, Charlotte, Theodore, Noah, Mason, Maddox, Madelyn and Everson; Plus many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
