Russell Serier

Russell Carroll Serier, age 99, passed away on July 21, 2025 at Western Wisconsin Health in Baldwin, WI. He was born on March 2, 1926 in Baldwin, Wisconsin to parents Clarence and Tilda (Larson) Serier. He grew up just south of Baldwin on a farm and graduated from Baldwin High School with the class of 44’. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army after serving in Okinawa during WWII. On May 31, 1947 he married Evelyn Frazier at First Presbyterian Church in Hudson. To this union a daughter Beth and son Jeff were born.

Russell spent a lifetime in Baldwin working for VandeBerg Hardware for 50 years and Shaffer Electric as an electrician where he enjoyed helping people get electricity for the first time. Russell was a member of American Legion Post 240 for more than 75 years and was a lifetime member of the Baldwin United Presbyterian Church, serving on the session and taught Sunday School for many years. He enjoyed gardening, wood working, helping others, cutting wood, and reading.

He is survived by his daughter Beth (Charles) Menzel and son Jeff Serier; granddaughters Rebecca (Jeremy) Leischner and Jessica (Mark) Atchley; great granddaughters Lucy and Gretta Leischner; brother-in-law Jim Steele and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife Evelyn; grandson-in-law Jeff Miskell; brothers Lester, Leslie, Elmer, Harvey, and sister Irene Anderson.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin, WI. Visitation will be from 10-11 A.M. with a memorial service at 11 A.M.
