Ruth Shaffer

Ruth Ann Shaffer, age 62 of Hammond, WI passed away on July 23, 2023 with family by her side after a long battle of cancer. Ruth was born on June 18, 1961 to parents Allan and Marylyn (Clymer) Apel. Ruth married Peter Shattuck in 1981 and they enjoyed 16 years together until 1997. Ruth found love again with Greg Shaffer and they were married in 2005.

Ruth worked at Ra’s on Main for many years before her retirement. She loved to spend her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite hobbies were crocheting and making sun catchers.

She is survived by her children, Carrie Tisdale(Cory), Thomas Apel, and her stepdaughter Heather Chouinard (Shawn); Her 4 sisters, Shelly (Tim) Hollyday, Patti Apel, Lori Apel (Rod) and Sally Haggerty (Steve), 11 grandchildren Alik, Ashlyn, Austin, Azalea, Archer, and Averie, Trey, Ania, Tristan, Ava, and Olivia. Great Grandchildren Jackson, Emberly, and Kingsley. Along with many nieces and nephews, Dani Hollyday, Robert Haggerty, Jessie (Nic)Marrone, Muriel (Chris) Erickson. Along with a great nieces and nephew.

She is preceded in death by her spouses Peter and Greg

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 1-4 p.m. at the O’Connell Funeral Home in Hudson, WI. Memorials are preferred to the family.
