Samantha Criego

Samantha “Sammie” Stella Criego, age 30, of Hammond, passed away peacefully with angels awaiting her arrival on May 7th, 2020 with her family gracing her presence. Sammie was born on February 26, 1990 in New Richmond; the daughter of Todd and Patty (Frank) Criego. Sammie was a warm, pure, caring, and sensitive individual who cherished her family. She looked out for her sisters and they returned the gift as they all brought great joy to each others’ lives. She cherished her nieces and nephew and was able to provide warmth and joy to any child. Her caring and warm heart was also extended to animals as they brought her much happiness. She enjoyed trying her hand at cooking and sharing her concoctions with her parents, which at times could be an adventure. Sammie will always be remembered for her contagious smile and outgoing personality.

She was raised in Hammond attending St. Croix Central Schools. She was so very proud when she was crowned Miss Congeniality and Princess for Hammond Heartland Days in 2007. She also had many fun memories as a member of the Red Cedar Special Olympics Team and made countless friends in the process.

Sammie will forever remains in the hearts of her parents Todd and Patty; sisters Nicole (Nick) Witthoft of Glenwood City, Jessica (Adam) Brown of Hammond, Kelsey (Zack) Gillis of Roberts; nieces and nephews, Elsie Brown, Lennon Witthoft, Declan Brown; grandma Gail (Ernie) Bruckner of Lake Elmo; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Harland and Stella Frank, and Robert Criego.

A gathering of family and friends for Sammie will be 3:00 to 8:00 pm, Monday July 27th, 2020 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin, WI. Social distancing and face masks are encouraged. Please continue to keep them close to your heart as they have lost a special part of their family. Memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family. Funeral services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Homes.
