Sandra ‘Sandy’ Benoy

Sandra Rae Benoy, age 73 of Hudson, passed away at her home on June 30, 2017, after a recent lung cancer diagnosis.

Sandy was born February 7, 1944 in Stillwater, MN, to her parents, Earl and Eva (Swanson) Stendahl. She grew up Hudson and graduated from Hudson High School, class of 1962. After high school she went on to marry the love of her life, Dennis Benoy, on November 24, 1962. The couple were blessed with five children, and Sandy cherished the opportunity to raise them. She possessed a kind and caring heart, and was known to have never said anything bad about anyone; all traits that she displayed to her children.

Sandy loved nothing more than being with her family and friends. She adored her husband, all of her children and grandchildren, and relished in spending time with them. Sandy enjoyed supporting her grandchildren by attending any of their various sporting events, dance recitals, and band concerts. She never missed making a delicious birthday dinner for each member of her family. Sandy enjoyed reading but was truly delighted by Elvis, the Green Bay Packers, and her dogs.

Sandy is survived by her husband of 54 years, Dennis; children, Brad, Scott (Kari), Jon (Janeen), Amy, and Ann (Jeremy) Weiss; grandchildren, Ryan (Megan), Morgan, Emily, Samuel, and Lauren and Jake Weiss; siblings, Allen (Nancy) Stendahl, and Lynn (Brent) Nelson; half-siblings, Ron Murry, Joan Birkeland, Debra Harris and Lisa Dohrmann; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the Hudson United Methodist Church, 1401 Laurel Ave., Hudson. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 5:00–7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S 11th St., Hudson, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Memorials preferred.
