Scott Bratten, age 63, of Lakeland, MN, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at his home in Lakeland. Scott was born on October 26, 1956 in South St. Paul to parents Richard and Ardis Bratten. After graduating from South St. Paul High School Scott furthered his education at Dunwoody Institute and the University of Minnesota. He then began his life long career at United States Army Corps of Engineers as a Hydraulic Technician in the Hydraulic & Hydrology Branch.
He married the love of his life Cindy Bluhm on October 1, 1988 and also welcomed a daughter, Sarah, into his life. Together, Scott and Cindy would welcome another daughter, Emily. Scott and his family would enjoy living just blocks away from the St. Croix River beach before building their dream home together in Lakeland where they lived for over 25 years. Scott loved being outdoors and would frequently go on walks with Cindy at Afton State Park. He enjoyed watching true crime TV, doing Sudoku puzzles, reading books on WWII or money management and dabbling in the stock market. He also was a huge fan of classic Rock & Roll.
Scott will remain in the hearts of his wife, Cindy; daughter Sarah (Anthony) Mattes and their children Norah and Eli; daughter Emily (Jeremy) Baker; mother Ardis Bratten; brother Rick (Diane) Bratten; his four nephews; Godparents Loren (Donna) Neubauer; mother-in-law Jeanette Bluhm; sister-in-law Sandy (Randy) Burmeister. He is preceded in death by his father Richard Bratten; father-in-law Nolan Bluhm; and brother-in-law David Bluhm.
A memorial service for Scott will be at 3pm on January 8, 2020 at Shepherd Of The Valley Church in Afton, MN. Visitation will be from 2-3pm before the service at church. Memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family.
