Shirley Jean Nichols age 79 of Beldenville, Wisconsin died peacefully August 7, 2017 at the Baldwin Care Center. Shirley was born on April 30, 1938 in the town of Sampson, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Herbert and Hazel (Ehrenberg) McFarlane. She was raised in Bloomer where she graduated high school prior to receiving her teacher certificate at the River Falls. On December 5, 1956, she was united in marriage to Roger Nichols in Bloomer. This union would be blessed with two children Keith and Candace. Early in their marriage, Shirley taught school in Bruce, Wisconsin. Following this, she dedicated her life to her family. The family lived in Hayward, Wisconsin prior to making Beldenville their home many years ago. First and foremost, Shirley loved her family. Being blessed with two children was a gift she never took for granted. Candace was born with physical and mental disabilities.  Shirley took care of Candace at home most of her life.  Candace was located to the Spring Valley Nursing home where she passed away a few years later. Shirley enjoyed tending in her flowerbed, giving to the church and cooking dinner for her family.
Shirley will remain in the hearts of her husband Roger; son Keith Nichols; grandchildren Jennifer Nichols, Andrea Gartmann; great grandchildren Hunter Gartmann, Drake Gartmann, Autumn Gartmann, brother Rolly Ehrenberg; nephew Bret Reichenbach and his children Dane, Reed, and Garrett.
She is preceded in death by her beloved daughter Candace; brothers Donny and Larry Ehrenberg.
Funeral service for Shirley will be 11 AM Thursday, August 10th at Peace Lutheran Church in Baldwin. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to LAMP, Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots which was founded by Shirley and Roger in the early 60’s.  They still hold them dear to their heart. Burial will be in the Ono United Methodist Cemetery in rural Maiden Rock at 2pm Thursday August 10th. Funeral and cremation services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory of Baldwin.
