Shirley Mae Orf

Shirley M. Orf passed away on June 18, 2025, at the age of 89.

She grew up in the Somerset Landing Hill area and graduated from Somerset High School in 1954. She married Robert in 1959 and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage. Shirley had a special place in her heart for Jesus and her family. Her love for everyone showed in her smile and joyful interactions. Those who knew Shirley admired her ability to hear a song on the radio and immediately play it on the piano. Embracing change with grace, she was never daunted by technology or social media—always eager to learn and engage with those around her. Shirley’s creativity shone through her sewing projects, and her knack for baking cookies and desserts that brought smiles to her family. Recently she found special joy enjoying Italian ice, a sweet indulgence. Shirley was a dedicated supporter of her family, managing communications and taking care of many things for the Robert’s businesses. She took pride in typing recipe books for her family. An avid to-do list maker kept her and the family organized. Her involvement in the church prayer chain was not just a way to serve but a reflection of her caring spirit. She will be deeply missed by her children Wayne (Patricia), Cindy Keilen, Craig (Tammy); former son-in-law Mike Keilen; grandchildren Erin (Brent), Mariah (Jordan), Jennifer (Jacob), Lynnette, Jaclyn; great-grandchildren Aubrey, Bradey, Robert, Benjamin, Clinton & Colton; sister Gloria Basel.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Robert; parents Ernest & Helen Rehder.

Visitation 9-11 AM with 11 AM Funeral Service Monday June 30 at Trinity Lutheran Church; 1205 6th St. Hudson. There will be a light lunch following the service with burial at Pioneer Cemetery in Houlton. In Shirley's honor, consider wearing colorful attire to her service.
