Shirley Sherman (Nee Ptacek)

Shirley Marie (Ptacek) Sherman, age 70 of Hudson, passed away June 25, 2017 surrounded by her family at Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater. Shirley was born May 21, 1947 in River Falls, WI, the daughter of Robert and Edna (Weishaar) Ptacek. She graduated from River Falls High School, the Class of 1965. In 1969, Shirley was united in marriage to William Paul Sherman. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Tami, Tara and Todd. Shirley worked as a pricing clerk for Target in Hudson for 18 years.

Outside of work, Shirley enjoyed shopping, appreciating a good deal on a fabulous pair of shoes. She delighted in her time basking in the sun and swimming in the pool. Shirley and Bill were fortunate to share many vacations to Mexico, which brought many cherished memories. Most important to Shirley was her family. She loved every minute she had with her children and grandchildren, taking in dance recitals, soccer games, and many special events. Shirley’s gracious heart had a way of making everyone around her feel so loved and cared for.

Shirley will remain in the hearts of her husband of 48 years, Bill; children, Tami Sherman (Jeff Warren) of Hudson, Tara (Christopher) Petros of Hudson, and Todd (Robyn) Sherman of Hudson; 6 cherished grandchildren: Amanda, Sydney, Luke, Charlotte, Lexie and Haylee; siblings, Patricia (Paul) Kelly and Jean (Jerry) Morrow; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and wonderful Target associates and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and mother and father-in-law, Helen and Lew Sherman.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:00 AM Thursday, June 29th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson, with Fr. Gerald Harris officiating. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held 4:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 28th at O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson, and one hour prior to Mass at church on Thursday. Memorials are preferred to The Gathering at Boutwells Landing in Stillwater.
