Susan Rae Engum

Susan Rae Engum (Nee Frieburg), age 65 of Knapp WI, died on Thursday evening, May 30, 2013 at the Red Cedar Medical Center. Susan was born June 21, 1947 in Menomonie WI to parents Oscar Edwin and Avanell Mae (Scott) Frieburg. She attended schools in Menomonie, and graduated from Menomonie High School with the Class of 1965. She would be united in marriage to James Alan Engum on June 19, 1970 in Sioux Falls SD. Their union in marriage would be blessed with a son, Brad.

Susan worked for many years as a secretary with the 3M Corporation. Outside of work, Susan enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting, and working with Jim in the garden. Susan loved being a grandma, and cherished time spent with her family. Though these past years have challenged her with illness, Susan’s spirit remained genuine. She will be remembered as a truly fun-loving, generous, and kind person who was known and loved by many.

Susan is survived by her husband of nearly 43 years, Jim; son, Brad (Cheri) Engum of Burnsville MN; step-children, Scott (Heidi) Engum of Indianapolis IN, Kari Engum of Bismarck ND, and Chris Engum of St. Paul; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Mildred Ajer of Woodville; brother, Don (Julie) Frieburg of Glenwood City; brother-in-law, Dick (Karen) Engum of Fairlawn OH; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Bill Frieburg, and Ames Frieburg; and her beloved dogs Taffy and Buffy.

Graveside service will be held at 11AM Wednesday June 5th at TeeGarden Cemetery; HWY 12, Knapp. Memorials may be directed to her family. Services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory of Baldwin WI. www.oconnellfuneralhomes.com
