Timothy Allen Gunderson

August 9, 1952 — December 30, 2025

Hudson

Timothy Allen Gunderson, age 73, went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 30, 2025. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his two sons, after facing pancreatic cancer with faith, great courage, and the generous support of many family members and friends.

Tim was born to Donald and Hazel Gunderson on August 9, 1952 in Grand Forks, ND, where he attended grade school and high school. He started his college studies at the University of North Dakota before moving to Minnesota to complete his degree at the University of Minnesota—Twin Cities and begin his career at Andersen Windows. Tim soon met Marilyn Genson through mutual friends and both knew that they had found everlasting love. They were married on June 7, 1980 at First Covenant Church in River Falls, WI.

Tim and Marilyn started their lives together in Fargo, ND so that Tim could be close to his sales territory. While in Fargo, they welcomed the birth of their first son, Ryan. Tim’s career at Andersen led him back to corporate headquarters, and they soon moved to Hudson, WI, where they built their family home and welcomed the birth of their second son, Adam. Tim flourished as a loving husband, and he deeply cherished Marilyn and the faith they shared. As a loving father, he shared his passion for adventure, the outdoors, and craftsmanship with his sons. He devoted himself to raising his boys into men of faith, integrity, grit, compassion, and service. Tim’s joy grew with his family, as he became a loving father-in-law and grandpa to his five grandchildren. His heart was full to overflowing for his granddaughters and grandsons who each connected with him in special ways.

Tim and Marilyn loved adventures together, particularly sailing their boat on the St. Croix River and the big waters of the Apostle Islands. After retiring from Andersen Windows, Tim loved living the salt life with Marilyn on the Gulf shoreline during the winters in Orange Beach, AL. They explored the coast by car, bike, and sandy beach walks—always together and always cherishing their companionship. Tim discovered a passion for saltwater shorefishing and was thrilled to share the experience with his family each time they visited.

Tim’s life was foremost defined by his love for Jesus and the truth of the gospel that he discovered as a young man. His faith was lived out in compassionate service to others, through fellowship with family and close friends, and through shared ministry with Marilyn that ranged from volunteering with small group Bible studies to international missions trips to Mexico and China.

Tim is survived by his children: Ryan (Kate) and Adam (Larissa); and grandchildren: Evangeline, Elise, Jack, Henry, and Nora. He is also survived by his brother: Robin (Arlene) and a large extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents and Marilyn, his beloved wife of 43 years.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Tim’s life at Faith Community Church — 777 Carmichael Road, Hudson, WI — on Thursday, January 8. A visitation will begin at 10am followed by the service at 12pm. Interment at Willow River Cemetery and a luncheon at the church will follow.

Tim held this truth dear: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever” (Psalm 23:6).
