Violet E. Scott

d. December 31, 2024

Violet E. Scott, age 102, of River Falls passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Comforts of Home in River Falls. Born on August 5, 1922, to John and Minnie (Deal) Johnson, Violet spent most of her life in the River Falls and Lakeland areas.

Violet’s life was a tapestry of love, devotion, and quiet strength. Her world changed forever when she met her soulmate, Raymond Scott. On July 2, 1942, surrounded by family and friends, they began a nearly 50-year journey of love and partnership, a bond that only deepened until Ray’s passing in 1990.

Violet embodied the essence of caregiving. She lovingly poured her heart into raising her children. As a grandmother, she became a trusted source of comfort, wisdom, and unconditional love. Her home was a sanctuary where the coffee pot was always on, and the aroma of freshly baked treats welcomed visitors.

Her flowers, vibrant and full of life, were not only a beautiful sight for the eyes but also a haven for hummingbirds and her other cherished feathered friends, whose feeders were always brimming. In quieter moments, Violet found joy in a good book or cherished trips to visit family and friends.

Violet leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, carried on by her daughter Margaret ‘Marge’ (Tom) Norris of Lakeland, MN; grandson Richard ‘Rick’ Norris (Theresa Bailey) and great-grandchildren McKayla Jo Chapin, Thomas Norris (Brynn Babey), and James Norris. She also held a special place in her heart for her dear nieces and nephews. She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband Ray, her son Leon, her granddaughters Tammie Jo Norris and Bridgette Kay Chapin along with nine siblings and their spouses.

A funeral service to celebrate Violet’s life will be 11:00am, Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home: 225 S. 3 rd St, River Falls, WI 54022, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Violet will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Ray, in Greenwood Cemetery, River Falls.

The family would like to thank Comforts of Home and Olive Grove Hospice staff for all the care and compassion they showed Violet during her time with them.
