Born on March 10, 1947, in St. James, Minnesota, Wayne graduated from St. James High School before pursuing higher education at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he earned a degree in mathematics and minored in religion.

Wayne was known for his selflessness and kind spirit, always willing to lend a hand. His candid nature and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

In his younger years, Wayne and Prudy enjoyed country dancing and traveled around the world together. He was known for his willingness to help people, whether it was car repairs or snow plowing.
