Roberts

William Stanley Cave, a beloved father, veteran, and dedicated bar owner, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on January 11, 1931, in Baldwin, Wisconsin, Bill spent much of his life in the Roberts & Hammond area, where he became a cherished community figure through his ownership of the Cave Inn.

Bill's journey through life was marked by a deep love for his family and a passion for the activities that brought him joy. He married Margaret Ann Snoeyenbos on June 15,1963 and together they were blessed with two sons. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran, serving his country in the Korean War with honor. After returning home, he dedicated himself to building a successful business, creating a gathering place in the Cave Inn where friends and loved ones would converge to share stories, laughter, and good company.

A true outdoorsman at heart, Bill found solace in the beauty of nature. He delighted in hunting pheasants in the vast fields of South Dakota with his sons and enjoyed fishing along the gentle currents of the Willow River. His love of sports was evident, as he passionately followed his favorite teams—the Packers, Brewers, and Bucks—celebrating their victories and lamenting their losses with equal fervor. Bill was also known for his sharp wit and skillful card playing, especially his fondness for euchre, drawing friends for spirited games that would stretch long into the evening.

Bill is survived by his two sons, David (Denise) Cave and James (Lynn) Cave; grandchildren Brianna (Roman) and Megan Cave; step-grandchildren Andy Brathol, Ella Scott & Audra (Nathaniel) Scott; great-grandchild Dominic; plus many extended relatives and close friends, who carry on his legacy of warmth, humor, and dedication to family. He leaves behind a wealth of memories that will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Cave; parents, Clifford & Mildred Cave; brother, Gene; sister, Camile; nephew, Jerry Conwell.

A memorial service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held on March 2, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Roberts Congregational United Church of Christ, 1001 Birch Drive. Visitation will take place prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM. Following the memorial service, Bill will be laid to rest at Warren Cemetery. The family invites everyone to a luncheon at the church following the burial.

In honor of his remarkable life and the countless memories he created, we invite all who knew Bill to come share in the celebration of his journey. Memorials are preferred to Roberts Congregational United Church of Christ where he and his wife were dedicated parishioners.
