William (Bill) Dennis Enberg, age 87, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his daughters at home on Friday night, April 4, 2025, in Amery, Wisconsin.
Bill was the son of Herbert L. and Bernice A. (Barsness) Enberg, born on March 4, 1938 in Red Wing, MN. Bill was a beloved member of the community, known for his kindness, generosity, unwavering spirit and quick wit. He lived a full and meaningful life, touching the hearts of many with his warmth and compassion.
Bill was generous with his time for others, always putting his loved ones first. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him. His legacy of love and dedication to his family will continue to inspire those who knew him. He helped create a treasure chest full of beautiful, fun, uplifting memories. We will be forever grateful for all our time together with Bill.
Growing up, Bill was the middle of 5 siblings: 2 older siblings, Leo and Tom and 2 younger siblings, Corrinne and Herb. He attended school in Ellsworth, WI. Bill grew up on the family farm, learning the value of hard work and the skills to fix anything. He worked as a farm hand for many years before going to school to learn welding. Much of his career was spent welding for Wheeler Tank Manufacturing in St. Paul, MN. His work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident in everything he did. Later in his career, he enjoyed working for Abbey Medical Supplies, helping his customers and swapping stories. Leaving a lasting impact on those he worked with, Bill retired in 2000.
Over the years, Bill lived in St. Paul, MN, River Falls, WI, and Amery, WI, but home for Bill was on White Ash Lake in Balsam Lake, WI. Here, Bill was known as the “mayor.” He kept in touch with neighbors, many who became close friends over the years. In Bill’s retirement years at the Lake, he was always involved with something, taking pontoons in and out, lending a helping hand, driving the tractor for the weed harvest, and having the perfect size nut, bolt or screw. He was “the guy” on the lake that knew of someone for the job or knew of the place to go. Bill’s place was a little piece of heaven in God’s country.
Bill had a passion for nature and enjoyed spending time outdoors. He found joy in gardening, fishing, hunting, and exploring the beauty of Wisconsin’s landscapes. His appreciation for the simple pleasures in life was a testament to his gentle and thoughtful nature. We will miss everything about him. His smile & joy were contagious, and his presence brought peace, comfort, & happiness to so many.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Bill’s life and honor his memory. The family invites friends and community members to join them in remembering the remarkable person Bill was and the positive influence he had on so many lives. Funeral services for Bill will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, April 11, 2025 at Bethel Covenant Church, W8405 County Road KK, Ellsworth, WI 54011. The burial will be in the church cemetery immediately following. Visitation will be at 1:00 pm at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Bill Enberg will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace.
