William L Hatch III, age 78, of North Hudson WI passed away peacefully at the home of his son Christopher in Novato, CA on October 9, 2019.
William Lorenzo Hatch III was born on March 26, 1941, in Ramsey County, Minnesota to William and Marjorie (Foottit) Hatch. They moved to Hudson from St. Paul in 1951 when Bill was a 4th grader. Hudson is where he grew up and graduated from Hudson High School, class of 1959. He married his wife Georgia Mullen on March 19, 1966. They moved to North Hudson in 1970 where they raised their 3 boys, David Michael, Daniel William, and Christopher George. They were married for 53 years. He worked as the branch manager for a marine wholesaler in Hudson and the Minneapolis/Saint Paul twin cities area for his whole professional life and retired at 64.
As a high schooler he created and participated in a car club known originally as the Hudson Head Hunters but was later renamed to the Hudson High Domes after the principal objected to the first name. The club included good friends Butch Olson, Rich Souligny, Bill Knudsen, Roger Dierks, Dick Kidd, Murray Edin, Bill Olson, David Evenson, and others.
As a married adult with 3 kids he became active in the North Hudson community. Along with family friends Dahlins and Loefflers, he founded and helped guide the first Little League ball program in North Hudson. He also was active with the Pepper Festival for many years.
While in the marine business he never owned a motor boat, but rather preferred the quiet approach of the canoe and spent summers camping with his family and friends in northern Wisconsin and the peninsula area. He was an avid Packers fan and was active playing pickup basketball with neighborhood friends.
Ever a “car guy”, after his children David and Christopher moved to California, he and Geeg enjoyed yearly cross-country drives to the San Francisco Bay area to visit for the holidays. Somehow he just seemed to like the weather better out there.
He is survived by his wife Georgia (Geeg), his 3 children and their families: David and wife Tina with their child Rowan, Dan and wife Angelique with their children Emerson, Logan, Audrey and Liam, and Chris and wife Kimberly with their children Laura, Ethan, and Olivia, and his 3 siblings, Eric, Allyson, and Brian. He is preceded in death by his father William Lorenzo Hatch Jr. and his mother Marjorie.
A memorial for Bill will be held at 10AM on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson.
The memorial gathering will be from 10am – 12pm with an informal sharing of memories/stories starting at 11. Any and all are welcome. At 12pm the direct family will adjourn to the Willow River Cemetery to share some final words.
