The O’Connell Family Funeral Homes Blood Drive

The O’Connell family has a long and proud history of serving the communities of Hudson, Baldwin and the greater St. Croix Valley.

That’s why we are so excited to host a Red Cross blood drive on August 28th at our Hudson funeral home; 520 11th Street South

But We need your help!
Our blood drive will be most successful if we have many participants.  A huge thank you to those who responded with interest to allow our family to sponsor this drive! Did you know that each blood drive donor can save up to three lives?

It’s true. Just fifteen minutes of your time could help someone in your community get the life-saving blood they need.

It’s pretty simple. Here’s what you can expect :

  • Registration
  • History & brief verbal physical
  • Blood donation
  • Recovery

It only takes around 8-10 minutes for the actual donation. After, enjoy a snack or drink to make sure you feel fine to leave.

Your donation can help patients lead a healthier life or simply sustain their life!  Your blood donation may be used to aid cancer, heart surgery, organ transplant, or burn and accident victims.

Someone in the United States needs blood every two seconds. Your blood could be what helps save them!

Friends helping friends

Mike O’Connell said, “Our family has a rich history of emergency medicine and volunteering for disasters aided by the Red Cross. I am thrilled to be able to host such an important event that will undoubtedly change the lives of many people. Our community has been so good to us and supported our family from the day dad opened in 1985. It gives us the greatest pleasure to give back to the community anyway we can!”

We need you to come out to support one another. Inspirational speaker Steve maraboli once said, “I don’t want my life to be defined by what is etched on a tombstone. I want it to be defined by what is etched in the lives and hearts of those I’ve touched.” Well said Steve. Join your friends or neighbors, and together we can touch the lives of those in need.

All donors are welcome! Here’s where you can sign up for a slot in our blood drive.  Or, just select “going” on our Facebook event page if you want to just drop in.  If you are having doubts, stop down to see what it’s all about. Maybe next time will be right for you. And yes, we do recognize the irony of a funeral home sponsoring a blood drive which makes it that more special.
